When I think back on this class two things come to mind. The first and foremost thing that comes to mind is me thinking, "Wow... This class kicked my butt." There were many sleepless nights spent working on papers, blogs and forum posts for this class and a few time I thought about how there was no way to pass. So I really hope I did well so I don't have to take it again or else...
Looking back I am going to miss this class. It brought a lot of much needed laughs during a pretty serious time in our world. Yet similarly to a lot of the texts, videos, and audio we have seen and heard in the class. We too can use humor as way to deal with these real world issues. Whether that be through coping or making a point/ argument. So I'm not really sure how to end this so I guess...
A fun reflection to read, Alex. Your images made me laugh, too.
ReplyDeleteGotta say, as a teacher, hearing a class kicked my students' butts makes me a *bit* proud--esp. when they finish on a strong note, like all four of you have! Well done!
Alex, I am totally gonna have to agree with your first assertion. This class kicked my butt as well. My oh my did we do a lot of writing. I also like how you pointed out that this class brought you humor in a time of many serious world issues. This is something i agree with as well. It introduced me into a world of humor that I did not know existed, and because of that, I definitely have a new outlet during these trying times in our world.
ReplyDeleteI also agree that this class kicked my butt! haha it was a little hard to keep up with, but we managed to make it nonetheless! I think I'll miss the class a little bit as well. All of these readings were new to me and I've developed a few new favourite comedians from them, especially Hannah Gadsby and Tig Notaro. It seems like you really got a lot out of this class and that's really wonderful. I think that's what good education is supposed to do.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to this post on so many different levels. First, I too found this class so much more interesting and enjoyable for me to complete. I also procrastinated wayyy less than I usually do as well. I've laughed more in this class than I have in any other college course so far. It is a little weird to say, considering it is a summer class, but I will miss it as well. I really enjoyed reading through your reflection and found it to be so true and relatable!
